The PIXIE ‘CAN-SERIAL-ISO is a serial communication which provides galvanically isolated, CAN bus, RS232 and RS485 interfaces for your application, general prototyping, test rigs, one off products, education and evaluation.

CAN bus interface

  • Provides a single CAN bus interface which is galvanically isolated from the control circuitry.
  • It supports CAN 2.0 (CAN 2.0A: 11 bit, 2.0B: 29bit) with bus speeds up to 1M bits/second.
  • It supports CAN FD (ISO 11898) with bus speeds up to 8M bits/second.
  • Uses Linux CAN socket stack or other drivers.
  • Device used is Microchip MCP2517.

RS232 interface

  • Provides a single RS232 interface which is galvanically isolated from the control circuitry.
  • It supports all the standard baud rates.
  • Has RTS and CTS handshake signals.
  • Uses Linux serial TTY drivers.
  • Device used is NXP SC16IS762 dual UART.

RS485 interface

  • Provides a single RS485 interface which is galvanically isolated from the control circuitry.
  • Can work as half or full duplex.
  • It supports all the standard baud rates.
  • Uses Linux serial TTY drivers.
  • Device used is NXP SC16IS762 dual UART.
